Gallery and builds
The gallery is for photos. Builds are project pages for a single car. Both need a verified email address to create, and both can be switched off by the site owner. If you see a "coming soon" message, that is why.
Albums
An album is a set of photos with a title.
- Open the gallery and choose to create a new album.
- Give it a title and choose who can see it:
- Public: anyone can see it, and it gets its own discussion thread.
- Members only: only logged-in members can see it.
- Private: only you and the moderators can see it. There is no discussion.
- Upload photos. JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and AVIF files work, up to 20 MB each.
There is a daily upload limit, both in files (set by the admins; 50 a day to start, 10 for brand new members) and in size (200 MB a day, 100 MB for brand new members). Files you start uploading but never use still count for that day. When a batch of photos reaches the limit it stops there and tells you how many were not uploaded; the ones before it are in the album.
Camera details such as lens and shutter speed are shown on your photos only if you turn that on in your privacy settings. Where a photo was taken is never stored.
You can edit or delete your own albums and photos at any time.
Comments and likes on photos
Every photo in a public or members only album has its own comments under the photo. The first comment starts the discussion; it also shows up in the forum's gallery section, next to the album discussions. You get a notification when someone comments on one of your photos, and you can unsubscribe from that photo's discussion in the forum like from any thread. Photos in a private album have no comments.
Logged-in members can like a photo with the heart under it (not their own). The most liked photos of the week are on Popular photos; when nobody liked a photo this week, that page shows the most liked photos of all time instead.
Removing a photo from an album, making the album private or deleting it hides that photo's comments, unless the photo is also in another public or members only album. Putting the photo back brings them back.
Builds
A build is a page about one car project, with a spec card, photos and a running log.
- Choose to start a new build.
- Fill in The car: title, a one-line summary, make, model, year and chassis code (for example PP1).
- Fill in Specs: engine, power, weight and modifications.
- Set the Status: active, finished, sold or archived.
- Add a cover photo.
- Under Photos, add up to 5 photos with a caption each, and use the arrows to put them in order. They show on the build page; click one to see it large. More photos than that go in an album: link one of your albums so its photos appear on the build too.
Public builds get a discussion thread underneath, where people can ask questions and cheer you on. You can edit or delete your own builds. Staff can feature good ones on the front page.
